oops...
The ongoing construction (similar to the 12-year long thruway construction plan in Erie) of this new website has come to a screeching hault. Sort of anyways. Although we have been working hard to build a new site and new content, we just accidentally deleted a bunch of the database while fooling around with passwords and other important things. I promise it will be worth the wait, which hopefully shouldn't be too much longer now. Thanks!

I know this has been a brutal wait for all of us, or some of us at least, but we'll be slowly phasing in some new features in the next few weeks. After coming to the conclusion that we don't want to change our whole identity, the site will be changing in small ways that will make it all worth the visit more often! On another note, we conducted our first video interview last night and it's in the process of being edited down as we speak. Demons Stole Their Stuff
Early this Morning, Liars Academy had all their equipment stolen out of their trailer in the Roland Park area of Baltimore, MD, the band's hometown. This comes right on the heels of the release of the band's new album, Demons, and in the middle of their east coast tour. Liars Academy will be posting a complete list of the stolen equipment, which is valued in the neighborhood of $15,000, on www.liarsacademy.com very soon. The band will unfortunately have to cancel their performance in New York City tonight and New Jersey tomorrow, although they still definitely plan to play their hometown Baltimore show on Saturday. A decision will be made regarding the remainder of the tour shortly. In an effort to get Liars Academy back on their feet and out on the road, the band is accepting donations via Paypal to the account: LiarsAcademy@equalvision.com. Sirens and Departures

Bayside are alive and well, but there are a few changes to the line-up to announce. Leaving the band are Jim Mitchell (drums) and Andrew Elderbaum (bassist) and joining in their places are Nick Ghanbarian on bass and John Hallihan on drums, both are from Long Island and debut with the band this friday, August 27th at the Empress Ballroom in Danbury, Connecticut.

Official Statement from Bayside on Line-up Changes:
We're sorry to announce that Andrew and Jim will no longer be playing in Bayside. They both have their personal reasons for leaving the band and if they wish to make them public they will. Jim and Andrew were great to make music with and are still good friends of ours. We want to wish them the best of luck in everything they choose to do from here. LOVE ME DESTROYER NEEDS A BASS PLAYER!
Heres a message from the band: Our good friend Corby has decided to move back to Texas, which leaves us in need of a permanent bass player. We are a very hard working band that aspires to tour constantly, and work hard at bringing the rock to the masses. Here are the qualifications:
* Must be 21 years old.
* Must be willing to take any amount of time off for tour and local shows.
* If you are from outside of Colorado, you must be willing to move to Denver as we practice very often.
* Knowing how to sing is also a big plus.
If you think you might be interested, please contact LMD's manager Laura at lauradestroyer@comcast.net or overduebooking@msn.com Thanks!

Crappy Band, Good Message
Finally, Korn has done something worth mentioning. Last night on late-night TV Guide Channel watcing, there was an interview with Jonathon Davis spotlighting the band's new video which networks are afraid to show because of it's fact's about how the music industry is corrupt and ripping kids and artists off. It's about time somebody who's been in the middle of it all for years has the guts to speak out and do something. Korn said they're managment loves the video, they're label on the other hand doesn't. So give it up for something good!

Poison The Thursday
Here's a little message that's been heating up the net gossip lately, but ap.net has claimed it to be true, but here's the thursday message:
"Hey everyone, So real quick, we are back from our trip overseas with buddys, Poisen The Well. although I will tell you that we almost didnt make it. I began to realize, after the lightning/ van incident a few months ago that one of may not be so lucky, and that all of us were in danger of reaping all of this person's misfortune simply by being stuck in a van/ airplane/ backstage room/ car all the time. what happened? you ask. well, lets just say that we alongside PTW almost dies in a plane crash in Austrailia. Feeling a huge guse of wind at 20 feet from landing, I looked out the window and saw the left wing less than a foot off the ground. Then, a second gust of wind rotated the plane so we were landing sideways on the runway.".

Scooters and the Sinking Economy
So, it's been one day...but after a little bit of press, our scooter wars video has been getting some response, mostly along the lines of "get a life." I'd like to suggest that due to the sinking economy, and the lack of jobs in Niagara Falls, this video is holds high a much deeper and more political message of why the government should allow for more economic and job growth. Okay, not quite the original aim, but good story none the less.

This Sux...
Absolutepunk.net recently posted this about Immortal Records commenting that it came from a 100% accurate source, so please read and take action:
"Just a little heads up on something I thought your readers might find of interest. Word from a bunch of bands is that Immortal Records, who put out that Santa Cause charity album a few months ago, isn't making good on their promises. They haven't re-imbursed most of the bands who recorded exclusive songs for the comp, forcing all these small bands to pay for recording expenses out of their own pocket and, in at least one instance, forcing a band to cancel their tour because they can no longer afford it. Even worse, word is they haven't paid the charity they told their customers they were supporting! Having scanned about 15,000 copies of the record, this is sounding more and more like a hit and run job, taking advantage of the generosity of bands, fans, and the needy. People are welcome to write the President at happy@immortalent.com for more information."

New Media!
Alrighty, so it's cold out and i'm not really motivated today, so the whole media section isnt' done yet, but if you look at the bottom left on this page, you will see that Spitalfield, Silverstein and This Day and Age pictures are online! We also got the stars hide fire video online, still in the process of linking and formatting! Now onto the "you're to fat to be an emo kid but to skinny to be a son of a bitch" diet as it's been coined.

Good News...
So, we didn't get our video of Silverstein last night cause our stupid camera, but luckily we've found the key to getting our videos of NSD, Kaliph and Stars Hide Fire online, stupid dial-up connections will prohibit them getting up tonight, but they shall be uploaded by tomorrow night, I hope...online by Thursday lets say! Pictures are decent, tomorrow as well I hope.

Last Night Recap
Last night's show was pretty amazing, Buffalo you showed up in full force to battle snow and cold and the bitchiness of a certain named Virginia to come out and check out silverstein and spitalfield. Show review coming soon enough as well as pictures and we would have had video but our camera quite on us halfway through silverstein's set, so no video...so sad. Also sad, seems that Silverstein headed home to Burlington last night and have dropped the last 2 dates of the tour.

A Plea For Help...

Dear Friends,

I’m writing this letter today out of necessity. For all those that know me, I am not the type of person that enjoys discussing the day to day finances of my business, so please know that I would not be approaching you if it was not due to a dire situation.

As the retail music industry continues to go through hard times, we have just been informed this week that our biggest record distributor will be sending us a substantial retail return. This is the second return in two months, and they total $40,000. Without getting into specifics, this means that we will not be expecting a payment for quite some time.

For an independent business like mine, this could prove to be the end of Suburban Home if we don’t do something about it. Imagine if your household did not receive any income for three months.

To get to the point, we need your help. We need to raise $20,000 over the next month and a half, or Suburban Home could be forced to close. This means that if 400 of you can find it in your hearts to each spend around $50 on our compact discs, t-shirts, and zines,(we are always adding new merch and records to our site) this would be enough to get us through this hard time. Also, there will be a series of benefit shows to save Suburban Home, and I want to thank all the bands that have already agreed to donate their time and talent.

The future of Suburban Home Records is bright if we can get through this. We have so many great releases planned in the near future including new records by The Gamits, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Stereotyperider, Mike Park, Laymen Terms, Adventures of Jet, and others. Our distributed labels(Negative Progression, Fastmusic, Double Zero, Law of Inertia, Goodfellow, Attention Deficit Disorder, Dying Wish, Soda Jerk, Status, and Grey Flight) will also be releasing new independent music throughout the year, and I would hate to see this be the end of our relationship together.

In closing, if you could find it in your hearts to help us out, we will be forever in your service.

On behalf of everyone at Suburban Home Records and myself,

Your friend through music,

Virgil Dickerson - www.suburbanhomerecords.com

Hey...so a little Sunday update. We have a few buttons coming in! We say a few as in a very limited amount are being pressed (contest winnings) so these are a brand new 'limited edition' design...get your hands on this history. Oh yea...and we've been fooling you since the summer saying that we're going to get pictures up with some other media when we get time next week off of school. We have scrapbooks up right now of never say die, cross pollination and stars hide fire, but we'll soon have pix up of kaliph, beloved, silverstein, this day and age, spitalfield and of course more of our buds in never say die and cross pollination. We're working on finding space for a few live videos as well...right now we have 3 good ones to post from never say die, stars hide fire and kaliph. Know of any place that will give us like 200 megs of space for free and is reliable and has a good speed ftp access? If so, email Scott here and if all of this is technical jargon is over your head, relieve yourself here.

The Wrapup
Here's a little conclusion of the This Day and Age acoustic show last night. Besides being pretty crowded and a little hard to hear throughout the second set, the show went off without a hitch. Starting out playing a few new songs, including one sure to blow them up soon enough 'Slideshow,' Jeff and Steve played the 2nd set on their own with just the acoustic guitars and keyboard. The final set was the full band acoustic which consisted of new and old favorites toned down, and it makes me look forward to March when 'always leave the ground' is released. Oh, and Jinxed was there...and we drooled. Jenna looked at me, but i have no balls so i didn't say anything to her.

A Little Concentration On The Industry...
I'd like to take this time to explain contracts...no one understands them. Word on the street says that Straylight Run will be releasing their album on Victory. Why? Well...first of all, everyone (except thursday) likes victory...and they send me free stuff, so that's brownie points. But, since Taking Back Sunday is on Victory, their contract most likely stated that if 2 or more of the members left to start another band, than that band would have to record under Victory. However, all contracts are different and even though Breaking Panagea was on Equal Vision and Will joined SR, it most likely means little for EV. See, even tho school is out there's still educatin' to be done.

Trying to get off the youngman onto the blvd. was a bitch tho...and around the mall was no fun as well. Then there were seriously like 60 people in one line at media play...so stay home today. Go-Kart Records joins the Kazaa revolution

Go-Kart Records has been very vocal in our criticism of the RIAA's decision to sue individuals. This new compilation is our latest salvo and it is different from anything we have done before.

"Downloading Is Not A Crime" is only available online, it is a 32 song sampler that is absolutely free and 100% RIAA safe. Along with the music, we have included a booklet and traycard as a PDF file that people can download and cut out if they want to make a conventional CD. We have also included the Go-kart Magazine, a PDF magazine that contains writings from us as well as from many other magazines and organizations from all over the world.

If you wonder how you can download our compilation the answer is simple. Go to http://www.kazaa.com and download the latest version of their multimedia desktop, install it and launch the application. You will be able to find our “Downloading is Not A Crime” compilation in Kazaa’s “Audio”-Section.

If you like the bands you hear on this compilation, please go and support them, buy their records and see them live. Let's prove to everyone that downloading can help artists and not hurt them! Also, you can order all the albums directly from us using our online store.

As you might remember, this is not the only action we here at Go-Kart Records have taken to oppose the measures taken by the RIAA. To help draw attention to our "Open Letter To RIAA" we offered people the opportunity to download six of our newest releases in their entirety. To date, over 120,000 songs have been downloaded. This is what shows us that we are on the right path.

For more information about the bands on the “Downloading Is Not A Crime” compilation, a full explanation of why we oppose the RIAA’s decision to sue individuals, and more information about Go-kart Records please visit our website at http://www.GokartRecords.com

THE STREETS NEW ALBUM OUT NOW EXCLUSIVELY FROM ON-LINE RETAILERS

In an arrangement that points to the future of music distribution, VICE Records artist The Streets is releasing his new album of previously unreleased b-sides and remixes exclusively on-line. The Streets is the first major recording artist to have a record like this available exclusively via on-line retailers through paid downloads.

All Got Our Runnings is available through the industry leading retail sites, including Apple’s iTunes store, Liquid, Buymusic, Rhapsody, Musicmatch, MusicNet, Fullaudio, and others. It is sold either as tracks a la carte, or in an album bundle. The album is available in the US only.

VICE Records has also set up special promotions with four independent record stores who are offering a free bonus track with the purchase of the album bundle. Everyone who buys the record from Zia, Gallery of Sound, Dimple, or Cat’s Music gets a previously unreleased remix of “Has It Come To This?” by underground garage DJ Zed Bias.

All Got Our Runnins highlights the two sides of Mike Skinner: at once introspective (the lonely “Streets Score” and desperate “All Got Our Runnins”) and debaucherous (the live favorite “Give Me Back My Lighter”). The release also includes remixes from house producer Ashley Beedle, jungle artist High Contrast, and two-step garage crew Roll Deep featuring Mercury Prize winner Dizzee Rascal. The track listing is:

1 Streets Score (instrumental)
2 Give Me Back My Lighter
3 All Got Our Runnins
4 Let's Push Things Forward (The Streets Remix feat. Roll Deep with Dizzee Rascal)
5 Don’t Mug Yourself (Mr. Figit remix)
6 Weak Become Heroes (Ashley Beedle’s Love Bug Vocal)
7 It's Come To This (The Streets vs. High Contrast)
8 Streets Score

Know What's Worse Than X-Mas Shopping?
...Nothing. I hate the greed of the Christmas time...mine mine mine seems to be the attitude these days. I don't just mean from kids, I mean from shoppers..."oops I guess I really didn't need that finger you just took off grabbing that last cd off the shelf." And what happened to x-mas sales? Even on the sale days, cd's still cost a fortune, I got 4 cd's today, guess what the total was, $70! What the hell is that all about! I'm going in debt starting my shopping, and then I drive home and people are cutting me off, and making sudden stops just to piss me off I bet too. Arrghh...I can't wait til' Christmas day gets here, that's the day it's all worth it.

Hot Off The Presse

The Official Breakup Notice of Count The Stars, sniffle sniffle:

Okay, here's what you've all been waiting for, THE TRUTH. No more rumors. The first thing i'd like to say is that we have not broke up because of chris winning the lottery or clarke getting married, neither of those things are true. We also did not get in a big fight. In fact, we're all still very close and we all intend to stay in touch with each other. We've simply decided that we've been doing this for along time and some of us weren't 100% into it anymore. We want to thank all the fans that have supported us. We can't tell you how much it means to us. We also want to thank Evange and everyone else at FATA booking, Victory Records, Tom Sarig, and everyone else who's helped us and supported us along the way. We can't tell you all how much we appreciate everything. We hope everyone will keep in touch. Thanks so much.

I Hate WNY
There's something about this time of year...oh yea...the snow. Every year it gets me depressed and I do nothing but sit inside and play on the internet...but that's good news for you. Last year at this time we were just becoming known...labels and bands really started to take notice...along with friends thanks to some cleverly placed reviews...so be sure to keep checking back this winter...what else will you do? I mean...today it was 54 degrees going into school...right now it's below 30 and snow is beginning to accumilate on the ground!

Sunday Updates...
So here it goes...Sunday's are boring...no news to report. Life is interesting busy, I've been looking for a job for like 6 months now, but today I was really looking and only found one place hiring, the local Taco Bell, and they "ran out" of applications, so I just gave um my name and number. Other than that...pick up the stars hide fire album on tuesday and don't forget to get me a x-mas gift...get it on sale early!

Bands On TV
SO last night I taped the dashboard appearence on Conan...I'm not going to say that I hate them, because I don't, however I can say I dislike the whole 'them' aspect of it. Chris was so much better on his own, pre-the places album. Last night with his hair, he kind of looked like a backstreet boy, but not the clean shaven ones, the rebel drunk one. Then I taped part of Carson Daily, unfortunatly the tape ran out before Story of the Year's performance came on, but I did catch some of Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies interview and performances as house band.

All Else Failed
Zao is back. They have been under the radar since 2000 except for the re-release of "all else failed" last year. They have a new album droppin on December 11th Entitled "Legendary". Now, we have no news on whether or not this is all original material or if its a "greatet hits" cd. The name might imply the latter, but never assume when your dealing with hardcore powerhouses Zao. i personally cannot wait, and you should all go pick it up on the 11th.

This is me with the words on the tip of my tongue
Last night in Rochester NY at the Taking Back Sunday show...our friend Charday (from rockinundies.com) and her sis attempted to snap some photos of the band when Adam reached down and attempted to knock the camera away. The girls decided to get under their skin and make a sign that said "mics are for singing not for swinging (signed BR)" and the TBS manager came out and kicked um out. I guess after some talks...they were allowed back in. Sounds like a fun night...but I guess everythings cool...so the band wrote "It was a beautiful night for us and we had a great time," in their journal. I guess one of the guys of moneen pulled their pants for the camera as well...so what an exciting night!
